Implement, maintain, report and document the component functions of the Human Resources
Department. Maintain confidentiality on all work related matters, personnel records, and information.The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification. Assist with maintaining and tracking the temporary hire list and filling temporary positions.
Research and complete work histories as required.
Assist in preparing training materials.
Assist applicants in the application process, to include update of applications, resumes and explanation of qualifications.
Accurately enter applicant data into iSeries, Human Resources Information System.
Update job vacancies through the Job Channel at ASRC and the Saavat Center.
Research requests for information; including employment verification, and unemployment.
Responsible for posting and closing of all vacancy announcements.
Perform routine clerical duties such as typing, filing, and record keeping.
Cross train with other employees in the division and provide coverage as needed.
Perform inquiries and input data in the Human Resource Information System.
Manage projects as assigned.
Conduct temporary and permanent hire orientation.
Process benefits paperwork; including, but not limited to, health care insurance; retirement; and public employees' retirement system.
Assist employees with questions regarding Family and Medical Leave; prepare and process FMLA paperwork.
May specialize in one or two functional areas of human resources such as human rights compliance, compensation, safe workplace, benefits and training.
May be required to administer drug and alcohol tests utilizing federal drug and alcohol testing procedures.
Responsible for filing of all paperwork for the division on personnel related issues; including, but not limited to, benefits; safe workplace; and personnel files.
Travel to villages as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of common software.
Skill working with members of the public.
Knowledge of principles of confidentiality and file management.
Skill in maneuvering and data entry into the Human Resources Information System on the iSeries.

High School graduate or G.E.D/or a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.
One year work experience with a PC utilizing common software applications;
One year clerical work experience.
Six months work experience with Human Resources functions.
Ability to obtain and maintain breath alcohol technician certificate within the six month probationary period [Employee Relations Division only];
Ability to obtain and maintain drug and alcohol Collection Personnel training certificate within the six month probationary period [Employee Relations Division only];
Ability to obtain an Alaska Driver's License within the six month the probationary period that meets the North Slope Borough insurance criteria.
One year work experience with a PC utilizing common software applications;
One year clerical work experience.
Six months work experience with Human Resources functions.
