Performs clerical duties in accordance with Department procedures and Borough policy; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues, data and information.
Receives, verifies and enters data into computer tracking systems; codes computerized reports according to procedures.
Provides information and assistance to citizens and agency representatives within scope of authority; assists customers with applications, government forms and other documents.
Prepares and processes reports, documents and forms; reviews documents and data for compliance and accuracy.
Maintains and updates departmental files and records; prepares documents for filing.
Searches and investigates records to retrieve information as requested.
Answers incoming telephone and radio calls and directs the caller to the correct person or work group, or takes and relays messages as appropriate.
In the event of an emergency, will follow responsibilities as outlined in the North Slope Borough and program policies and procedures and the CEMP manual.
Respect clients by recognizing their rights and maintaining confidentiality, including HIPAA requirements.
Protect self, co-workers and consumers by following policies and procedures to prevent the spread of blood borne and/or airborne diseases.
May be required to work a non-traditional work schedule to include evening, holidays and weekends and may be subject to 24 hour on-call status.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of Borough policies and procedures and records management rules and guidelines.
High school graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education or related work experience.
One year of clerical work experience;
One year of work experience with a PC utilizing common software applications;
Applicant must pass a criminal history background check conducted by the State of Alaska Background Check Unit;
Documentation that the individual is free from active pulmonary tuberculosis;
One year separation of receiving services for substance abuse or domestic violence;
Ability to obtain a valid Alaska driver's license that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria.
