Operate transit vehicles to safely transport passengers over specified routes according to time schedule.

Operate transit vehicles in a safe manner, in compliance with all traffic laws, Borough policy and procedures, and state and local regulations.
Assists physically challenged passengers with entry and exit from vehicle; assists clients with packages, parcels and deliveries as needed; delivers meals to the homebound.
Assist passengers with questions concerning routes, transfer points and street locations.
Regulate heating, lighting and ventilation systems for passengers' comfort.
Complete required paperwork, including special services provided.
Inspects bus; checks gas, oil and water prior to departure and as necessary for safe operations and preventive maintenance.
Assist mechanics with inspection, cleaning, maintenance and repair of vehicles.
Comply with all safety rules and regulations.
Must be polite and courteous to the public.
Assist with translations and paperwork for elders.
Obtain and maintain wheelchair tie down training required by Department of Transportation.
In the event of an emergency, will follow responsibilities as outlined in the North Slope Borough and program policies and procedures and the CEMP manual.
Respect clients by recognizing their rights and maintaining confidentiality, including HIPAA requirements.
Protect self, co-workers and consumers by following policies and procedures to prevent the spread of blood borne and/or airborne diseases.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of Borough policies and procedures.
Skill in utilizing personal computers and a variety of software applications.
High school graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.
One year of van driving or vehicle maintenance work experience;
Must be 21 years of age or older;
Must obtain CPR/First Aid Certifications within 30 days of hire.
Valid Alaska Driver's License that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria;
Applicant must pass a criminal history background check conducted by the State of Alaska Background Check Unit,
Ability to push, pull, lift and assist disabled clients;
Ability to communicate effectively with the elderly;
Documentation that the individual is free from active pulmonary tuberculosis.
