REPORTS TO:Principals/Assistant Principals
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:School Year position [180 days] 10 days [5 before start of school year/5 after last day of school year]
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
•High School Diploma
•Thorough knowledge of grammar, spelling, and business correspondence.
•A high degree of patience, tact, and confidentiality in dealing with the general public, parents, students, teachers, staff, and administrators.
•Knowledgeable and experienced in use of computers, word processing, Internet (e-mail), and district student information system.
•Will be required to take tests to measure general clerical skills, knowledge of office procedures, and computer technology.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Type a variety of materials, such as letters, announcements, reports, statements, etc., from rough drafts or corrected copy.
2.Answer incoming telephone calls/school intercom.
3.Perform various related office duties as assigned.
4.Enter daily student attendance into student information system.
5.Keep track of students who are absent, tardy, dismissed.
6.Ensure daily attendance, student behavior is entered into student information system in accordance with RI state law.
7.Assist with student registrations.
8.Greet visitors courteously, determine their needs, check appointments, and direct or escort them to proper person.
9.Answer telephone questions of callers courteously according to school policy, take messages for staff members, and page authorized personnel over intercom system.
10.Provide clerical assistance to the Principal.
11.Assist Principal’s Administrative Assistant when necessary.
12.Assist in coordinating lunch count with aides daily.
13.File correspondence, invoices, cards, or other records in the prescribed manner.
14.Sort incoming department mail and distribute accordingly.
15.Assume other general duties as may be assigned by the Principal/Assistant Principal.
NOTE:The School Department reserves the right to request, administer, and rate skill proficiency tests as it deems appropriate.
