JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Clerk/Typist – Special Education (Part-time 19.5 hours; grant funded)
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Diploma.
2. Competent typist (40 words per minute word processing minimum)
3. Proficient in performing a wide variety of general office duties independently and/or under direction of others.
4. Thorough knowledge of grammar, spelling and set-up for business correspondence.
5. Propensity to deal with educational community (teachers, parents, etc.) in tactful, helpful manner.
6. Ability to adhere to strict code of confidentiality.
REPORTS TO: Pupil Personnel Services Director
JOB GOAL: To support special education office including typing reports and correspondence, assist in filing, other general office duties, and daily communication with educational community.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Support scheduling coordination of all Evaluation Team Meetings in district.
2. Type (word process) a variety of special education reports, correspondence, forms, and email to appropriate recipients.
3. File various materials and assists in maintaining Team records.
4. Photocopies, emails, scanning and routing documents as appropriate.
5. Assist in answering incoming phone calls and taking/distributing messages, as warranted.
6. Assist in receiving visitors to Special Education Office, determine their needs, verify their appointments, and direct or escort them to appropriate person.
7. Responsible for follow up phone calls to confirm/cancel meetings.
8. Understand and comply with special education timelines and notify Team members.
9. Responsible for typing and disseminating Team agenda and assignments.
10. Assume and perform other duties as assigned by Pupil Personnel Services Director.
