Job Summary:
The ID Card Specialist is responsible for issuing Common Access Cards (CACs), dependent ID cards, and military retiree IDs using the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) and the Real-Time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS). This role requires strong customer service skills, knowledge of DoD identification policies, and the ability to manage high-volume ID card processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and issue CACs, dependent ID cards, and retiree IDs in accordance with DoD and ARNG policies
- Verify service members' and dependents’ eligibility for ID cards using DEERS and RAPIDS
- Maintain strict security controls over ID card issuance equipment and supplies
- Provide customer support to service members, dependents, and retirees regarding ID card policies and procedures
- Schedule ID card appointments and manage walk-in services efficiently
- Ensure compliance with federal identification regulations, including background checks for ID issuance
- Assist in troubleshooting ID card issues, including PIN resets, reissuance, and activation
- Monitor and report any discrepancies or fraudulent activity related to ID card issuance
- Conduct quarterly audits of ID card processing activities and equipment
- Train new ID card office personnel on DoD policies and proper ID card issuance procedures
- High school diploma or equivalent required (associate or bachelor’s degree preferred)
- 2 years of experience working with DEERS, RAPIDS, or military identification programs
- Strong customer service and administrative skills
- Ability to multi-task in a high-volume office environment
- Knowledge of DoD, ARNG, and Army Human Resources (HR) policies
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance
