Key Responsibilities:
- Media Monitoring and Analysis:
- Conduct daily media monitoring using tools such as Meltwater or Cision to identify and analyze news coverage related to the organization, its programs, and the Marine Corps
- Compile and deliver a Daily Media Report (DMR) each weekday morning summarizing key findings and insights
- Analyze media coverage trends and identify areas for improvement in media relations
- Metrics and Reporting:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive system for tracking and analyzing public affairs metrics across various channels (social media, website, events, etc.)
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data on key performance indicators (KPIs), such as website traffic, social media engagement, media mentions, and public perception
- Prepare and deliver quarterly and annual metrics reports summarizing key findings and insights
- Develop data visualizations (charts, graphs, dashboards) to effectively communicate data findings to stakeholders
- Communication Research and Analysis:
- Conduct research and analysis to inform public affairs strategies and campaigns
- Analyze public opinion data and identify key audiences and their perceptions of the organization
- Conduct competitive analyses to identify best practices and areas for improvement
- Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to inform public affairs decision-making
- Collaborate with public affairs staff to develop and implement data-driven communication strategies
- Track the effectiveness of public affairs campaigns and make data-informed adjustments as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
- 2 years of experience in data analysis, preferably within a public affairs, marketing, or communications setting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets and draw meaningful conclusions
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI, SQL)
- Experience with media monitoring and analysis tools (e.g., Meltwater, Cision)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate data findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Experience with public affairs principles and best practices is a plus
