Job Summary:
The Education and Incentives Counseling Specialist is responsible for providing guidance and administrative support to service members regarding their educational benefits, including the GI Bill, tuition assistance, loan repayment programs, and transfer of education benefits (TEB). This role requires strong communication skills to educate soldiers on their entitlements, eligibility, and application processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise service members on education and incentive programs, ensuring compliance with all federal and state policies.
- Assist service members in creating individualized education plans and maximizing the use of available benefits.
- Conduct briefings, presentations, and workshops on GI Bill benefits, scholarship programs, and tuition assistance.
- Process and verify eligibility for education incentives, including GI Bill Transferability, and ensure on-time delivery of documentation.
- Maintain accurate records within Guard Incentive Management System (GIMS) and other personnel databases.
- Ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Army National Guard (ARNG) policies for educational benefits.
- Bachelor’s degree in counseling, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
- 2 years of experience in education counseling, human resources, or military incentive programs.
- Familiarity with military education programs, GI Bill benefits, and state/federal tuition assistance.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with service members of diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational and data management skills for tracking incentives and education benefits.
