Job Summary:
The Loan Repayment Specialist is responsible for managing the Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP) for ARNG service members. This position ensures that eligible service members receive loan repayment benefits, maintains accurate financial records, and coordinates with lending institutions to verify debt repayment. This role requires financial expertise, a deep understanding of ARNG incentive programs, and strong record-keeping skills.Key Responsibilities:
- Review and verify service member eligibility for loan repayment incentives under the SLRP.
- Coordinate with the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) to confirm the status of federal student loans for repayment.
- Process loan repayment applications and update records within GIMS and other DoD financial databases.
- Work with finance and military personnel offices to ensure accurate loan repayment disbursements.
- Conduct audits of loan repayment transactions to ensure compliance with DoD and ARNG financial policies.
- Research loan repayment suspensions and take necessary actions to reinstate or terminate payments.
- Maintain detailed financial records and reports, ensuring they are audit-ready and in compliance with ARNG policies.
- Stay informed about federal and military education benefit changes and advise leadership on updates that may impact loan repayment programs.
- Provide customer support to service members by answering questions about loan repayment eligibility, processing timelines, and issue resolution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
- 2 years of experience in financial aid processing, student loan management, or military financial administration.
- Knowledge of NSLDS, GIMS, federal loan repayment regulations, and ARNG incentive programs.
- Strong organizational skills, data analysis expertise, and attention to financial compliance.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive financial records.
