Title: Mid-Level Staff Writer (External)

Key Responsibilities
Research, write, and edit feature articles, news stories, press releases, fact sheets, brochures, and other communications materials for external audiences
Ensure all written materials adhere to the Navy and Associated Press Stylebook guidelines for consistency and accuracy
Translate complex ideas and initiatives into clear, engaging content for a variety of audiences, including Members of Congress, the Department of Defense, industry stakeholders, and the general public
Provide editorial support and quality control to ensure messaging aligns with NAVSEA’s strategic communication objectives
Develop and manage content for digital and print publications, including website and social media platforms
Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure technical and policy information is accurately presented in communication materials
Assist in the development and execution of strategic communication plans to support NAVSEA’s public affairs and outreach efforts
Manage multiple writing projects of varying scale, balancing priorities under strict deadlines in a high-profile environment
Work closely with NAVSEA senior leadership and public affairs teams to craft messaging that aligns with organizational goals
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or a related field
Minimum of four (4) years of civilian or military experience in corporate communications
Strong writing and editing skills with experience producing news copy, articles, and social media content in accordance with Navy and AP Stylebook standards
Ability to synthesize complex topics into clear and concise messaging for diverse audiences
Experience managing small- and large-scale communication projects as part of a broader strategic communications plan
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with NAVSEA, Congress, the Navy, and the Department of Defense preferred
Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills to work effectively with senior leadership and subject matter experts
