What are the responsibilities and job description for the Loan Administration Specialist position at North Star Community Credit Union?
Role:
Provide a lending support structure in line with strategic goals and growth plans. Provide support to all locations
to service new and existing loan portfolios. Assist manager to ensure that the productivity meets the needs of the
internal and external customers. Verify and ensure that commercial and consumer loans are properly documented
and are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and Loan Policy.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
E 30% Type all necessary loan documents for approved loans. Answer telephone and mail inquiries in
regard to loans. Mail or email loan applications and/or information to members and prospective
members. File loans, forms, rejected applications and all other necessary information. Ensure
accuracy and completeness of work. Follow up on lien filings, titles, insurance, etc. Disburse
loans that have been approved by loan officer or in the absence of the loan officer. Type
correspondence as requested. Maintain accurate and complete loan files.
E 20% Follows-up with the Loan Officer to determine status. Processes approved loans and sets up date
and time to close the loan and make disbursements.
E 15% Maintains general knowledge of commercial, commercial real estate and consumer loan
products. Order title insurance, property reports, and flood certifications as requested. Prepares
renewals and extensions as requested. Obtains documentation necessary to perfect a lien, clear a
real estate title, file a lien or any other documentation requirements necessary to facilitate a loan
closing. Maintains knowledge and understanding of the Loan Policy and Credit Administration
Procedures and performs all responsibilities according to these guidelines.
E 15% Files loan documents with the appropriate agencies.
E 5% Calls or writes credit bureau and employer to verify accuracy of information.
E 5% Prepares and mails approval and denial letters to applicants.
E 5% Records data on status of loans, including number of new applications and loans approved,
canceled, or denied.
N 5% Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:
1. Consistently follows The North Star Way Service Competencies and Service Standards.
2. Produce loan documents, reports, and new accounts with no unresolved errors according to established
department standards.
3. Prepare files for underwriting within 1 day.
4. Provide informed, prompt, professional and accurate service and support to all associates by responding to
email within 30 minutes, answering telephone within 3 rings and replying to messages within 1 hour.
5. Complete, organize and close loan documentation and files within 4 hours.
6. Develop, maintain, and demonstrate a working knowledge of credit union loan standards, policies,
procedures, and applicable state and federal government rules and regulations.
7. Troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely and accurate manner.
8. Maintain a professional work environment and businesslike appearance.
9. Actively participate in Community and Credit Union Industry activities and events.
10. Minimal unplanned absences and tardiness.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience- Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education - A high school education or GED.
Interpersonal Skills - Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Other Skills - Must have good communication skills. Ten key calculator, typewriter and keyboard skills
