Our company was founded in 1991 and has a reputation for high quality and reliable service. We work across Metro Phoenix and Maricopa County for commercial General Contractors. We are looking for a motivated and versatile Construction Assistant to join our small but efficient team.
Position Overview: The Construction Assistant will have a dual role- providing office support for project coordination, scheduling, and documentation as well as working hands-on in the yard, assisting with the organization and maintenance of equipment, tools, and materials. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to grow within the construction industry and develop a broad skill set across multiple areas of operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Yard Support
- Deliveries, Pickups and other errands
- Clean and organize yard and warehouse
- Sort parts, unloading, moving, and storing materials
- Handle materials safely
- Parts checks and inventory checks, Identifying and verifying parts
- Manage and inventory tools and small equipment
- Handle tool repairs and replacements
- Order and maintain stock of supplies and consumables
- Clean and maintain a safe, professional working environment
- Light Building maintenance and cleaning
- Office Support
- Assist with projects as needed
- Read blueprints
- Material takeoffs
- Obtain and compare subcontractor, vendor, and supplier pricing
- Collaborate with senior estimators and project manager
- Order Materials and Equipment
- Purchase Tools
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Hard Worker
- Willing to get dirty
- Self-motivated and able to stay productive
- Ability to use office software including, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn and grow in the field of underground construction
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds
- Capable of working in all outdoor temperatures and weather conditions
- Must be comfortable and willing to work on construction sites
- Attention to safety and safety standards
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation to and from projects/office

Helpful Qualifications (but not required):
- Experience in construction
- Experience in underground utilities
- Experience in wet utilities and pipe
- Experience in warehouse and/or industrial settings
- Ability to read blueprints
- Display a basic ability to run heavy equipment or forklifts
- Ability to quickly switch from office duties to field duties
- Ability to multi-task and good time-management skills
- Experience driving light trucks
- Ability to tow and back a trailer is a plus
