Job Overview:
North Star Seafood, LLC seeks an experienced Occupational Health and Safety (EHS) expert to join our team. This role will be responsible for providing EHS expertise to assigned business units, supporting the field safety team, and partnering with the EHS function to implement a global EHS management system.
About the Role:
This is an intermediate-level site EHS position that requires strong knowledge of federal, state, provincial, and local EHS requirements and industry standards/best practices.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact and influence effectively with all levels of management, employees, and customers.
They will also have a strong background in EHS program management, including experience with injury prevention programs/initiatives, hazard identification and control, and compliance training programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting sites in executing on various EHS processes, including EHS-related training, environmental compliance, occupational health and safety, workers' compensation, transportation safety, contractor management, and business continuity.
Identifying, assessing, and controlling workplace hazards, including investigating incidents and completing detailed incident investigation reports with root cause analyses.
Managing, delivering, and tracking compliance training programs as required by regulatory agencies and Sysco policy, identifying gaps and opportunities for training compliance and delivery based on injury trends, KPIs, and risk assessments.
Supporting the workers' compensation claims process, completing OSHA determinations, identifying gaps in claims management, and promoting safe and early return to work.
Partnering and collaborating with functional leaders to influence and help manage EHS resources, projects, and business decisions.
Providing input on the design of standardized safety systems, policies, training, campaigns, and programs to reduce corporate and human capital risk and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree with major coursework in EHS, risk management, safety, industrial, quality, or environmental engineering, or a closely related field.
3 years of EHS program management experience with large national or multi-national companies with multiple sites.
Associate Safety Professional (ASP) designation or ability to acquire designation within 1 year.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree with major coursework in EHS, risk management, safety, industrial, quality, or environmental engineering, or a closely related field.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation, Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or other professionally recognized certifications in EHS.
Language Requirements:
English Required; Bilingual in Spanish highly valued.
