Duties:
- Report on local news, including government meetings, business happenings and events in Stanly County, N.C.
- Write scheduled news assignments
- Write local feature stories on assignment
- Collaborate with editors and other team members to refine content
Experience:
- Proficient in use of Wordpress
- Prior experience at a newspaper or magazine
- Efficient writer who can hit deadlines and word counts
- Good communication skills
- Good teammate
Necessary Skills:
- Ability to interview elected officials, business leaders
- Ability to write to specific word counts
- Ability to meet weekly deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively with editors
Nice-to-have Skills:
- Social media management experience
- Use of InCopy
