Job Description
Title: VITA Program Director Status: Full-time, Exempt
Reports to: Executive Director Pay Scale: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00
Commensurate with education and experience
Description: This is a grant-funded position. The primary responsibility is the provision and coordination of key services related to the operation of the VITA free tax filing program, which targets the low- to -moderate income population whose household incomes are typically less than $67,000 a year.
Primary Responsibilities
· Coordinate the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) free tax filing program.
· Develop, schedule and implement volunteer recruitment and training plans for site coordinators, tax preparers, greeters, interpreters and other community volunteers:
o Maintain a current database of volunteers.
· Prepare and maintain all necessary tax season equipment (computers, printers, copiers).
o Ensure all equipment has appropriate software and defaults loaded and operational for the tax season.
o Maintain all tax updates on computers and all tax alerts at each site.
· Oversee all aspects of the appointment scheduling process, working closely with 2-1-1.
· All site logistics such as:
o Secure tax preparation sites for both urban and rural locations.
o Ensure that all sites have required equipment and supplies needed for successful completion of tax preparation.
o Ensure tax preparation sites are operational before and during filing season.
o Oversee the set up and tear down of each site.
· Ensure all tax returns are electronically filed in a timely and accurate manner and rejects are resolved in the allotted time frame.
· Maintain confidentiality of all tax materials and personal information of clients.
· Collect and deliver VITA statistics for grants and reporting to partners, coalitions and funders.
· Manage VITA marketing and community outreach.
· Create or coordinate development and implementation of asset building education for tax clients.
· Provide administrative support for the Community Asset Building (CAB) Coalition and Community Impact Council’s Income team through attendance at scheduled meetings.
· Increase awareness of the VITA program in the community through community presentations.
· Assists in identifying funding sources for the VITA program. Develop and write funding proposals and grant applications as it relates to VITA grant; negotiate grants; report to funders; assist in planning and implementation of funding projects
I. Education and Position Requirements
· Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
· Previous work experience in a team environment
· Ability to complete the volunteer tax certification through the Military level (certification through Link & Learn Taxes) early fall
· Ability to complete training in financial education/financial coaching
· Previous income tax knowledge preferred
· Bilingual in Spanish and English helpful
· Proficient in PC programs, such as Word, Excel & Google Docs
· Effective communication skills
· Work some evenings and weekends, particularly during tax season, mid-January through mid-April
· Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Must be able to transport supplies to various locations.
· Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills
· Must have regular attendance at work

· Knowledge of funds, fiscal management, performance evaluations and statistical analysis.
