Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Communications Specialist is responsible for managing and implementing social media content creation, social community management and supporting the organization’s priorities through communications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in digital media, communications, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Able to create content tailored to different platforms and audiences
- Must have photography skills and proficiency in photo and video-editing and graphic design software
- Strong verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation skills to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community
- Ability to anticipate needs and plan accordingly, coordinate activities, prioritize conflicting demands, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Analytical skills to measure effectiveness of communications and fundraising campaigns
- Highly organized, attention to detail, and results-oriented
Experience:
- One year of communications and media-related work with a mix of creative and project management
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement social media strategies to effectively engage audiences and support NTFB initiatives
- Concept, create, and manage content on NTFB’s key social media platforms including Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Snapchat, and other media/websites
- Oversee engagement across all platforms by monitoring interactions and promptly responding to comments and messages in an appropriate and timely manner
- Design and execute a comprehensive influencer marketing strategy, including building and nurturing relationships with local influencers, negotiating contracts, organizing influencer events, and integrating influencer placements into social media campaigns and content.
- Manage Facebook fundraisers, providing ongoing support to fundraisers throughout the year to optimize engagement and ensure consistent revenue retention.
- Assist social media efforts during a crisis, working closely with the media relations team
- Incorporate insights from the analytics platforms
- Coordinate across the organization to conceptualize ideas for innovative social media projects and campaigns that actively engage key audiences
- Manage the creation and implementation of a social media calendar
- Serve as primary photographer and videographer for organization and develop visual assets to be used for marketing and communications.
- Serve as a secondary web manager, after the Digital Communications Specialist, making updates to the site as needed
- Manage the social media ambassador program and platform
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
- Moderate noise (i.e. business office with an open floor plan with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic)
- Travel required to locations within our 12-county service area
- Ability to work outside the traditional 40-hour workweek; some evening and weekend work required
