JOB SUMMARY
Arranges for the efficient and orderly admission of clinic patients. Ensures that patient information is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. Distributes appropriate information to hospital departments.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for scheduling patients, setting up patient files, registering patients, entering charges for clinic services
- Responsible for verifying payment (insurance, workers comp, indigent etc.) eligibility.
- Responsible for obtaining all needed patient signatures and collecting payment on outgoing patients. Record payments and forward to NTMC Business office per clinic policy.
- Provides information to the patient/patient representative about billing, complaint process, patient rights, and HIPAA. Distributes Clinic specific literature.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to supervisor, physicians, and coworkers.
- Interacts professionally and compassionately with patients/their families and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary.
- Ensures that documentation meets current standards and clinic/hospital policies
- Maintain accurate patient medical records. File new patient documents, physician notes, and reports according to clinic policy
BASIC SKILLS
- Basic computer knowledge (experience w/ Word/Excel etc. or the willingness to learn) and ability to touch type.
- Experience with information systems or the willingness to learn.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
