Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Surgical Unit. As a RN, you will provide direct and indirect patient care in a fast-paced environment, working closely with physicians, nurse managers, and coworkers to ensure exceptional patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough head-to-toe assessments on all patients, including pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general populations.
- Effectively assess and reassess pain, utilizing appropriate pain management techniques and educating patients and families accordingly.
- Revise plans of care as needed based on patient response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
- Conduct waived testing (point-of-care testing, glucometers) per Clinical Laboratory's and the resident care unit's policies and procedures.
- Interpret results of waived tests and take appropriate action.
- Provide patient care considering needs specific to the standard of care of patient's age.
- Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
- Follows the six (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
- Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.
- Assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
- Performs treatments and provides services to level licensure.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Current RN license in the State of Texas
- Current BLS Certification
- ACLS Certification within first 90 days
- NIHSS certification within first 90 days
- Previous MedSurg experience preferred
