RN - Medical/Surgical (Nights) TX

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Surgical Unit. As a RN, you will provide direct and indirect patient care in a fast-paced environment, working closely with physicians, nurse managers, and coworkers to ensure exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Perform thorough head-to-toe assessments on all patients, including pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general populations.
• Effectively assess and reassess pain, utilizing appropriate pain management techniques and educating patients and families accordingly.
• Revise plans of care as needed based on patient response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
• Conduct waived testing (point-of-care testing, glucometers) per Clinical Laboratory's and the resident care unit's policies and procedures.
• Interpret results of waived tests and take appropriate action.
• Provide patient care considering needs specific to the standard of care of patient's age.
• Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
• Follows the six (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
• Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.
• Assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
• Performs treatments and provides services to level licensure.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Current RN license in the State of Texas
• Current BLS Certification
• ACLS Certification within first 90 days
• NIHSS certification within first 90 days
• Previous MedSurg experience preferred
