Fleet Maintenance Equipment Technician I

Section 1 – Position Summary

This position assists in the inspection, repair, and maintenance of machinery such as hydraulic compactors, compressors, backhoes, wheel loaders, roll off trucks, Class 8 truck tractors, transfer trailers, and sludge hauling trailers.

Section 2 – Major Responsibilities

1. Provide assistance with routine preventative maintenance and repair to equipment such as hydraulic compactors, backhoes, wheel loaders, roll off trucks, Class 8 truck tractors, transfer trailers, and sludge hauling trailers.
2. Assist with preventative maintenance, welding, electrical, tire and hydraulic repairs.
3. Will be assigned various related duties as necessary.

Section 3 – Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

1. Must have the ability to comprehend, carry out and administer written and oral instruction.
2. Must have the ability to read operation and maintenance manuals.
3. Must possess a minimum of two years of experience with light/heavy vehicle maintenance and repair, welding, electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems.
4. ASE Certification preferred but not required.
5. Must possess a high school diploma or GED
6. Requires a valid Texas Driver's License.

Section 4 – Environmental Factors, Activity Levels and Equipment

This position requires continuous physical exertion often of a strenuous nature. Lifts or pulls/pushes 50 to 100 pounds on a daily basis in order to repair and service pumps, motors and machinery while using various hand tools and equipment. Working conditions include exposure to weather, odor, noise, gases and dust. Hand and power tools including impact wrenches, drill press and lathe, welding equipment, pickup truck, service truck, emergency lighting equipment and safety equipment.
