We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to join our ophthalmology team. Duties
- Review and verify patient information and medical records to ensure accuracy in billing.
- Utilize ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG coding systems to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies, ensuring timely processing and follow-up on outstanding claims.
- Manage medical collections by communicating with patients regarding their accounts and resolving any discrepancies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and billing regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in documentation or coding.
- Generate reports on billing activities and track payments received from insurance companies and patients.
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred, with a strong understanding of medical records management.
- Proficiency in medical coding and billing systems is essential; familiarity with ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG, and other relevant coding systems is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Compulink EMR strongly preferred
- Experience in ophthalmology or optometry strongly preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology is required to accurately process claims and communicate effectively within the healthcare environment.
- Experience in medical collection processes will be beneficial for managing patient accounts efficiently.
