What are the responsibilities and job description for the House Manager position at North Texas Performing Arts?
The House Manager is responsible for the smooth operation of the house, both the lobby and audience seating area during the run of all shows. Welcome the public to the theatre and oversee their safety and well-being before, during, and immediately after each show. Answer questions, listen to patrons' compliments and concerns, and make audience members feel welcome. Our front-of-house staff may be the only members of NTPA who the audience interact with on a regular basis, so your interactions are of prime importance.
➢ Maintain the appearance of the lobby and all public areas; communicate with Productions Services Manager as necessary to ensure a clean environment.
➢ Conduct a pre-show walk-through of the lobby and seating area to verify that the house is clean and presentable for the audience.
➢ Check restrooms before, after intermission and at end of night. Be available to clean, refill restroom supplies, possibly sweep and mop both mens and womens restroom facilities.
➢ Clean house/lobby areas, pick-up trash, sweep/vacuum and restock supplies as needed
➢ Set up Wine Bar Donation
➢ Oversee Ticket/Concession area ensuring it is stocked and resolve any issues with sales, etc…
➢ Work with Directors / Managing Directors to coordinate performance timelines with stage management, including pre show chat, curtain speeches, and intermission.
➢ Work with volunteers/ushers to ensure they have a sense of the seating scheme, and can lead patrons to their seats in the quickest possible way. Ensure all volunteers/ushers are familiar with the latecomers policy.
➢ Confirm Playbills are at each door and handed out prior to the performance. Print additional as needed for each performance.
➢ Work closely with management to ensure proper staff/volunteers are in place for all performances.
➢ Provide excellent customer service and ensure a superior patron experience during all performances.
➢ Resolve patron conflicts as needed.
➢ Provide leadership in emergency situations, including fire alarm and inclement weather warnings. Be knowledgeable of all protocols and procedures for evacuations and/or active emergencies.
➢ Ensure all lights are turned off after each show/rehearsal and all doors are locked ➢ Complete and distribute house reports for each day.
➢ Work to ensure all house management needs are met.
This position is located at the Willow Bend Center of the Arts in Plano and standard shift hours are: Thursday and Friday, 5pm - 10pm Saturday and Sunday, 1pm - 10pm
