We were the first tolling agency in the US to use electronic tolling technology with the TollTag. We were also among the first to convert an entire network of roads to cashless tolling (2010). NTTA has several internship opportunities at their Corporate Headquarters in Plano, Texas. The internship program is designed to allow interns to gain valuable skills through hands-on experience of the day-to-day operations of a successful toll road entity.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Systems Engineer Intern to join our dynamic team.

Pay: $18/hr.

The 12-week (Monday, May 20th, 2025, to Friday, August 8th, 2025) paid summer internship program at NTTA provides:

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Microsoft-based systems and servers
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation
  • Support the implementation of system upgrades, patches, and security updates
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to design and deploy new systems and applications
  • Participate in the development and documentation of system configurations, policies, and procedures
  • Assist in the management of Active Directory, Group Policy, and other Microsoft technologies
  • Provide technical support and assistance to end-users as needed

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled or completion of junior or senior year towards an undergraduate/graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 is required
  • Attention to detail and a proactive attitude
  • Possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational and technical skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Fast learner and team player with a willing to learn attitude, that is adaptive and receptive to various duties and assignments
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft operating systems and server environments
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, and other Microsoft technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with system administration tools and software
  • Knowledge of network protocols and security best practices
  • Understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware)
