We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our facility, ensuring that all animals receive the highest standard of care.
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising dogs and other pets.
- Maintain cleanliness in kennels and common areas by regularly cleaning cages, bedding, and equipment.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to the veterinary staff or management.
- Assist with animal restraint during grooming or medical procedures as needed.
- Support dog training initiatives by reinforcing positive behaviors and following training protocols.
- Ensure that all animals are handled safely and humanely, demonstrating proper animal handling techniques.
- Maintain accurate records of animal care activities, including feeding schedules and medication administration.
- Collaborate with team members to create a positive environment for both pets and staff.
Experience
- Previous experience in animal care or handling is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
- Familiarity with veterinary assistant duties or experience as a veterinary technician is advantageous.
- Skills in dog handling, dog training, or pet grooming are considered a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential.
