Position: Program Director, Pharmacy Technician Program

Position Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Program Director to lead our Pharmacy Technician program. This role involves overseeing all aspects of the program, including organization, administration, continuous review, planning, compliance, development, implementation, and general effectiveness. The Program Director will also supervise instructors and teach classes as needed.

Work Schedule:

• Full-time, Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Additional Program Director duties as required.
  
  

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain programmatic accreditation.
• Interview and screen instructor applicants.
• Evaluate instructor performance through class observations, student feedback, meetings, and individual counseling.
• Represent the Pharmacy Technician department at local, state, and national meetings sponsored by the American Association of Pharmacy Technicians.
• Create, revise, and modify curricula in alignment with the AAPT Core Curriculum for Pharmacy Technicians.
• Orient newly hired instructors on their responsibilities.
• Conduct orientation for new students and staff.
• Assist instructors with student scheduling.
• Conduct staff meetings.
• Advise students based on instructor recommendations.
• Supervise quality assurance of the programs using internal and external tools (e.g., surveys).
• Review, recommend, and implement the selection of textbooks, instructional aids, resources, and equipment.
• Interface regularly with other departments, including Admissions, Financial Aid, Placement, and the Registrar.
• Conduct and direct in-house instructors' meetings.
• Ensure timely completion of monthly student progress reports by instructors.
• Ensure department staff adheres to College policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Thorough knowledge of program requirements, accreditation, and approval standards.
• Ability to provide flexible leadership, coaching, and development to faculty members with diverse backgrounds.
• Enthusiasm for teaching and working with adult learners.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to teach from a standardized curriculum.
• Knowledge of career opportunities and industry expectations for entry-level employees.
• Flexibility to meet schedules, including evening and possible weekend hours.
  
  

Lab Instruction:

• Oversee and facilitate laboratory sessions for students, ensuring safety protocols are followed and fostering a supportive learning environment.
  
  

Education and Experience:

• Associate degree in Pharmacy Tech or graduation from an ASHP/ACPE-accredited Pharmacy Technician program.
• Licensed Pharmacist or Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician.
