Cytotechnologist Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cytotechnologist to join our dynamic laboratory team. The successful candidate will be responsible for examining and analyzing cellular samples to detect abnormalities, providing critical information for patient diagnosis and treatment. This role requires a strong foundation in laboratory procedures, physiology, and anatomy, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties:
- Perform cytology testing and analysis on patient samples
- Prepare and stain slides for microscopic examination - Identify abnormal cells and provide accurate diagnoses - Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret results
- Maintain accurate records of tests performed and results obtained
- Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and quality control procedures
- Stay updated on advancements in cytology techniques and technologies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or related field
- Certification as a Cytotechnologist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques
- Experience working in a clinical or research laboratory setting
- Proficiency in DNA isolation, ELISA, and other relevant laboratory techniques
- Familiarity with aseptic technique and proper handling of biological samples
- Ability to accurately interpret microscopic images and identify abnormal cells
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills Note: Phlebotomy skills, CT scan interpretation, vital signs monitoring, and laboratory management experience are not required for this position.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
