Northwest/RSL Medical Marketing is seeking a dependable and skilled Phlebotomist/Specimen Collector to join the team at a clinic in Brighton. You will be responsible for drawing blood from patients, preparing blood and toxicology specimens for medical testing, and ensuring accurate documentation of procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, and compassionate demeanor, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
Hours: Monday-Friday 7:15am-11:15am
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to collect blood specimens from patients.
- Perform urine and saliva specimen collection from patients.
- Label and prepare blood and toxicology specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established protocols.
- Verify patient information and maintain accurate records of procedures performed.
- Provide exceptional customer service and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the blood/tox collection process.
- Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines to maintain a clean and sterile work environment.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate specimen collection and processing.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of specimen collection supplies and ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.
- Participate in training sessions and continuing education to stay updated on phlebotomy best practices and regulations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program AND/OR at least 1 year of work experience in blood drawing.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen labeling and documentation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and basic laboratory procedures.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred but not required.
