Summary:
As a Director of Information Technology at North Wind, you will be responsible for leading the organization’s Information Technology function and building and managing the infrastructure, architecture, security, manufacturing technologies, data, and systems delivery. This role is pivotal in supporting our mission by providing insights that enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a trusted advisor, as well as build and maintain relationships, with executives and business unit leaders to develop a clear understanding of business needs as it relates IT. Ensure cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs and respond with agility to changing business priorities.
- Define and execute on North Wind’s vision for its IT function, as well as cybersecurity awareness and delivery, as the business grows and stabilizes.
- Create synergies across the enterprise to enable innovative shared solutions; develop and control the annual operating and capital expenditure budget for IT to ensure it is consistent with the enterprise's overall strategic objectives and plan. Identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective financial investment in IT solutions, including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, and development.
- Integrate the IT and business strategy to achieve company goals by fostering innovation, properly organizing teams, and directing the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technology solutions across the organization.
- Assess and communicate risks associated with IT investments and develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
- Implement enterprise-wide security, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
- Establish and document effective and updated IT policies & procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and operational excellence.
- Forge strong service-oriented teams and engage the team through enthusiasm and excitement about the business.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience leading high-performing IT teams with substantial hands-on experience in IT systems, infrastructure, architecture, and cybersecurity.
- Prior experience in the defense industry, and familiarity with the nuances of government contracting.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, as well as a keen attention to detail.
- Comfortable with rapidly changing technologies and environments; continually seeking improvement and innovative solutions. Ability to change tactics quickly to maximize return and ensure value.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing, ETL processes, and database design.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages, like SQL, R, Python, or SAS, as well as experience with business intelligence tools (like Power BI, Tableau) and data frameworks.
- In-depth knowledge of DR, BCP, critical infrastructure management, incident response, vulnerability management, and data protection.
- Advanced presentation skills; ability to present complex ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language, as well as manage conflicting priorities and influence others at all levels.
- Strong analytical, project management and problem-solving skills to make data-driven decisions.
- Expertise in ERP systems, and prior experience leading large system implementations within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to clearly articulate business needs, progress, and challenges at all levels of the organization.
