We are looking for a Program Manager in our Newport News office that shares our passion for the work and the mission. Role Description

Responsible for managing all activities associated with Programs including writing proposals, estimating cost and schedule, tracking program costs and status, interfacing with customers and subcontractors. Direct and coordinate activities of Programs to obtain optimum efficiency, quality, and economy of operations and maximize profits.


Responsibilities

  • Lead program teams to achieve key program objectives (financial performance, on time delivery, technical performance, configuration management and customer satisfaction), while managing risks and opportunity. Monitor and control project progress to ensure timely resolution of project issues, scope management and delivery within the contractual period of performance.
  • Successfully manage program budget to ensure profitability is achieved or exceeded. Ensure milestone payments are invoiced on time. Report financial and technical status to senior management team as required.
  • Drive cross-functional teams to ensure overall project coordination. Serve as the communication focal point for external customers, internal teams, management, suppliers and subcontractors for each assigned project. Verify that all contractual deliverables are understood, coordinated and delivered on time.
  • Establish a project plan for fulfillment of customer requirements, resource management, cost, and project risk using the customer PO, contract and company proposal.
  • Understand and clarify contract requirements, negotiate changes, achieve contractual acceptance / completion.
  • Contribute to the design, develop and troubleshooting of engineering systems or products. Provide hands on technical support to the engineering and manufacturing teams as necessary.


Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience

  • Bachelors in an Engineering discipline,
  • 5 years of Program Management experience or related discipline
  • Candidate should have excellent communication skills and enjoy working in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Experienced with breaking down large and difficult problems into smaller manageable tasks.
  • General familiarity with aerospace research and development test products such as wind tunnel models, flight test articles, gas turbine test engines and other prototype devices.
  • Fully proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel and PowerPoint for the generation of tolerance stacks and other engineering outputs.


Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Managed developmental aerospace or defense industry programs/projects.
  • Leadership of engineering, program management or other technical teams.
  • Experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
  • Exceptional financial acumen and technical understanding.
  • Must be organized and able to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to develop quick rapport with current and prospective clients.
  • Motivated self- starter with the ability to work well in a team setting.
  • Ability to quickly adapt and change priorities while professionally managing interruptions.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Program management experience with direct customer interface skilled at conflict resolution and program execution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • US citizenship required to obtain/maintain a DOD security clearance.

The salary range provided is a general guideline. Actual pay will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and other applicable qualifications. North Wind is committed to pay transparency in compliance with applicable state and local laws.


All candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.

Salary : $80,000 - $115,000
