At NorthBay Health the Vice President of Support Services (VP, HSS) is responsible for overseeing facilities, plant operations, biomedical engineering, nutrition services, environmental services, security, environment of care and safety officer within the hospitals.
The VP, HSS is responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects in alignment with the facility’s strategic plan. This role involves acquiring resources and collaborating with team members to successfully coordinate assigned projects. As part of the management team, the VP participates in institutional planning, policy development, priority setting, and management decisions, while overseeing operational responsibilities for designated departments as assigned by the supervising executive. Operational leadership involves overseeing various hospital departments and support staff, to ensure smooth operations and high-quality patient care. Financial management includes developing and monitoring departmental budgets while analyzing financial performance to identify cost-saving opportunities and effectively managing resource allocation. In terms of performance improvement, it encompasses implementing and overseeing quality enhancement initiatives, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), and pinpointing areas for operational efficiency. Compliance oversight is crucial, as it ensures adherence to all regulatory standards, healthcare laws, and patient safety protocols.
Additionally, staff management focuses on hiring, training, evaluating, and developing department managers and staff to maximize workforce productivity. Building strong relationships with physicians, clinical staff, administrative teams, and external stakeholders is vital for fostering collaboration and addressing operational challenges. Finally, incident management is critical for leading responses to operational disruptions, emergencies, and patient complaints, ensuring timely and effective resolutions. They will work with the SVP, CHOO & CNO, and the SVP, CMO & CQO for support services operations.

- Minimum of 10 years of progressive hospital administration leadership experience in support services with 2 years in a Vice President role.
- The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration with a Master’s degree preferred.
- Preferred qualifications include membership in ACHE, current knowledge of Joint Commission and relevant regulatory standards, and demonstrated skills in negotiation, coaching, and interpersonal communication.
Compensation:
- Annual Salary range $300K - 320K, based on years of experience in a VP role.
- Bonus eligible
