Description
The Northbrook Park District is seeking Swim Instructors to teach swim lessons at our outdoor aquatic facilities during the 2025 pool season!
Pay & Schedule:
Pay Rate: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
Monday-Thursday: 9:00 - 10:00 am & 4:30 - 6:30pm.
Saturday: 8:00 – 10:00 am
Private lessons Sunday-Saturday from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
Anticipated start date: May 1st, 2025
Duties & Responsibilities:

Professionally develops and implements swim and/or dive lessons to individuals ranging in age from 6 months to 14 years.

Routinely facilitates swim and/or dive lessons according to set lesson schedule; begins and ends on time.

Actively enforces all pool rules and regulations established by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), StarGuard, Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA) and the Northbrook Park District.

Promotes enjoyment and appreciation of aquatic skills and activities.

Accurately keeps attendance records and documents student progress.

Provides students support and constructive feedback and provides parents feedback as needed.

Obtains necessary lesson equipment prior to class and returns to storage following class.

Maintains a clean environment at the pools.

Diligently follows and adheres to all safety policies and procedures.

Collaborates with internal and external customers in a positive manner.

Follows safe work practices.

Qualifications
Must be 16 years of age or older and have an interest in working at an aquatic facility; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, ability and skills. Must hold, or have ability to obtain, a current StarGuard lifeguard license and CPR/AED certification. Previous experience working in an aquatic setting is highly desirable.

Hands‐on experience working as a lifeguard or swimming instructor

Communicate effectively with co‐workers and public in a professional manner during stressful situations

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Become CPR/AED Certified
