We are hiring a Theatre Technician-- Audio Engineer for Northbrook Theatre.
Pay & Schedule:
Pay Rate: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
The schedule is as follows:
May 10 - 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
May 12 - 5:00 pm - 9:15 pm
May 13 - 5:00 pm - 9:15 pm
May 14 - 5:00 pm - 9:45 pm
May 15 - 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
May 16 - 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
May 17 - 1:00 pm - 10:00 pm
May 18 - 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Other hours vary by production
Duties & Responsibilities:
Operate 30 microphones for the Northbrook Community Theatre May 2025 production of School of Rock in coordination with the show director and production staff.
The Audio Engineer will be responsible for:

Meeting with the stage manager, and production staff to determine the artistic vision and practical sound needs for the show.

Source sound effects where needed.

Lavalier microphone placement and operation on 30 performers.

Operating the Allen & Heath Avantis console and QLab to provide sound-effect playback for the show in coordination with stage management at all necessary rehearsals and performances.

Live mixing off-stage pit of 7 and on-stage band of 5.

Removal, cleaning and safe storage of microphones and other sound equipment before and after shows.

Attending additional trainings and meetings as required by the Park District.

Diligently following and adhering to all safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications
An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in Technical Theatre with an emphasis in sound design or significant (2 ) years in a similar position. Able to work independently and efficiently and possess strong organizational skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Live microphone mixing

Computer sound playback systems, preferably Stage Research's SFX or Show Cue Systems
