JOB SUMMARY, DESCRIPTION & QUALIFICATIONS:
Job Summary
The Custodial Supervisor oversees the custodial team and is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the College facilities, including offices, classrooms, labs, fitness centers, and common areas. This position ensures effective operations through scheduling, training, inventory management, and compliance with safety standards. The Supervisor also collaborates with the Facilities team to coordinate cleaning, maintenance, and event setups across the main campus and regional locations. Schedule flexibility is required to provide supervision across various shifts and campuses.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully with or without reasonable accommodation.
Supervise:
- Directly supervise custodians and temporary contracted workers.
- Prepare shift schedules, including summer cleaning and carpet extraction, and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Assign daily work orders and Building and Grounds schedules to custodial staff.
- Assign daily work orders and cleaning schedules to custodial staff.
- Approve timesheets, monitor vacation schedules, and coordinate staffing needs.
- Train staff on custodial equipment use and minor repairs, including auto scrubbers, sweepers, and dilution systems.
- Coordinate onboarding and training of new custodial staff and ensure compliance with standards and procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections of cleaning assignments to ensure compliance with standards and procedures.
- Hold regular 1:1 and team meetings, providing ongoing feedback and conducting performance evaluations.
- Adjust work hours to provide supervision across shifts and regional campuses.
Custodial Operations:
- Develop and implement cleaning procedures and snow removal assignments.
- Manage custodial supply inventory and order necessary items for the main campus and regional locations.
- Update and maintain appropriate Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure first aid supplies are stocked.
- Coordinate and approve event room setup requests, ensuring all requirements are reviewed and met.
- Coordinate regional campus cleaning with in-house staff and contracted services.
Team:
- Provide backup coverage for Manager, Facilities on the facilities emergency phone line.
- Respond to emergencies and provide on-call support as required.
Minimum Qualifications Required
In limited circumstances, NTC may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position.
Education: Associate's Degree (or Equivalent)
OSHA 30 certified or willing to acquire within 6 months of hiring.
Experience: 2 Years
Additional Experience Information:
- Required: 2-3 years of experience in facilities, custodial, or a related field.
- Preferred: Experience in a supervisory role.
