What are the responsibilities and job description for the SBA Lending Intern position at Northeast Bank?
POSITION SUMMARY: Northeast Bank’s (NASDAQ: NBN) National Small Business Administration (“SBA”) Lending team is looking for a motivated and diligent Intern to support its asset management and loan underwriting functions. Northeast Bank maintains a portfolio of purchased and originated SBA 7a loans and collaborates with an established Lender Service Provider (“LSP”) to underwrite and close SBA 7a Small Loans. Northeast Bank has earned a reputation for providing creative and responsive lending solutions and is powered by an experienced team with a successful track record. The Intern will be responsible for supporting the loan servicing and origination processes, including asset management and underwriting tasks in accordance with the SBA Standard Operating Procedures (“SOP”). A successful candidate for the Intern position will have strong attention to detail and organizational skills, as well as effective written and verbal communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist team with asset management for purchased and originated loans, including monitoring monthly loan payments, researching borrower contact information, responding to borrowers’ requests for statements and loan documents, ordering site inspections of borrowers’ business locations, and preparing memorandums for loan modifications.
- Prepare written asset reviews, including requesting updated financial information, ordering credit reports, reviewing the status of real estate tax payments, obtaining updated property insurance policies, and conducting financial analysis.
- Support the post-liquidation wrap-up report process by compiling loan documents and payment transcripts and writing summaries of loan servicing histories.
- Complete preliminary evaluations of SBA 7a Small Loan applications via online portal to ensure files meet all Bank and SBA credit, eligibility, and risk standards.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong interest in commercial lending and/or financial analysis

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20lbs.
