What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at Northeast Building & Home?
The Estimator provides expert guidance and technical support to the Inside Sales Representatives (ISR) and Outside Sales Representatives (OSR) by performing or facilitating material takeoffs and construction cost estimates based on customer supplied blueprints, plans and schedules. The Estimator may directly support the sales process by meeting with customers to review potential projects and bids. This position requires making necessary material assumptions and defining material exclusions where applicable. The Estimator will be required to track and manage each step of the estimating process to ensure successful completion within the committed timeframe. Other responsibilities may be assigned and additional training provided over time. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Operations.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Ability to read and interpret blueprints for residential and commercial building projects. This includes identifying and quantifying the materials shown based on a thorough understanding of the phases of construction and industry standards for construction methods and materials.
Prior experience using estimating software such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, Procore, or other relevant programs – minimum 2 years.
Tech savvy with a demonstrated ability to navigate and utilize complex web-based applications, POS and Delivery software. Proficient in advanced Microsoft Office functions.
Motivated, results driven, organized, detail oriented, approachable, and customer-centric
Ability to prioritize, multi-task and follow-up to meet deadlines across multiple work streams.
Collaborate with internal support and sales teams regularly.
Experience working with contractors, builders, architects, designers and buyers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the use of common building material product names, jargon, and phrases.
Proficient in Arithmetic and Geometry using all units of measurement.
Ability to write, read, and communicate in English

Pay: $29.06 - $39.32 per hour
