Responsibilities:
- Prepare wheelchairs for new and existing residents
- Complete general maintenance and repairs of the assistive equipment and wheelchair equipment and wheelchairs including but not limited to: Wheelchairs (power and manual), Cushions, Seating Systems
- Daily maintenance of spreadsheet for assigned equipment to all residents of a 280 bed facility.
- Maintain inventory and organization of wheelchairs, specialty chairs and cushions. Contact Supervisor for parts and supplies needed to complete work.
- Complete preventative maintenance schedule, work orders and inspections as assigned with required documentation.
- Perform routine and terminal cleaning of equipment.
- Complete work requests timely and complete required documentation.
- Perform weekly, monthly, and quarterly audits. Submit results of audit to Director of Rehabilitation.
- Communicate with outside wheelchair vendors, arrange appointments for specialty repairs, document findings.
- Attend weekly wheelchair team meetings (Rehab Director/Office Manager, AT)
- Communicate with multiple departments regarding WC repairs and concerns. Notify Unit Manager/Nurse upon completion/or pending results of work request via email.
- Ensure the AT lab room is clear of clutter, tools are returned to proper positions, basket is emptied, floor is swept, desk and work area is clean and orderly.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent-required
- Must have knowledge in the following areas for repair and preventative maintenance: Electrical, Motors, Carpentry, and Basic Mechanics
- Must be able to assess, diagnose and correct general maintenance concerns with wheelchairs and other adaptive equipment as the need arises.
- Experience in a health care setting is preferred.
