Position: K-8 Principal

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Principal is responsible for supporting Northeast College Prep’s students and teachers with dedication and enthusiasm. Much of the work consists of overseeing licensed teachers, serving as the instructional lead for the building, supporting student behaviors and supervision, and overseeing day to day school operations. The Principal is employed at-will and operates as a professional within the guidelines established by Northeast College Prep. The Principal works to fulfill the school’s mission in the following areas of responsibility:
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Provides leadership with teachers concerning instructional programs/curriculum
- Promote positive school climate in accordance with Northeast College Prep’s mission and vision
- Completes formal annual evaluations for all licensed general education teaching staff, encouraging professional growth and development through feedback
- Monitors the effectiveness of school practices and their impact on student learning
- Collaborate with the Dean of Students, Behavior Specialists, teachers, and paraprofessionals to set and hold high expectations for student behavior schoolwide
- Supports assessment coordinator in implementation of all state and national standardized tests
- Attends committee meetings, including but not limited to the Academic Committee and the Community Voices team
- Supervises occasional school activities outside of school hours
- Lead staff meetings, and attend and/or lead other meetings with academic and school leadership, the community, students, and others, as needed
- Adherence to Northeast College Prep policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, or other related field
- Current Minnesota State Principal or Education Administrator Licensure, or ability to obtain
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven leadership skills and experience
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with regard to student and other information
- Demonstrated professional and technical knowledge in educational leadership
- Committed to professional and technical development through attendance at development activities, scheduled meetings, and relevant and/or required training
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Experience working in an urban school setting
- Experience was an instructional coach or similar role
- Familiarity with testing and data review
- Familiarity with Responsive Classroom and/or Catalyst strategies
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Duties are generally performed in an office, common area, or classroom setting, where some environmental hazards and/or risks may be present
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position and/or walk for periods of one (1) hour or more
- Frequent sitting for periods of one (1) hour or more
- Occasional or frequent standing for periods of one (1) hour or more
- Frequent lifting up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting up to 40 pounds
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects in the performance of the job
- Must be able to exchange accurate information with students, teachers, parents, and staff
- Regular operation of computer or other office machines
- Regular stooping, squatting, kneeling, reaching, bending, walking, or a combination of these
- Seasonal work outdoors in all weather conditions
WAGES
$95,000 - $105,000
