What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Summer Camp Counselor (Seasonal) position at Northeast Community Center?
Northeast Community Center (NECC) is a non-profit, social service agency located in the Marvine-Pembroke low-income housing development in Bethlehem, PA. We are seeking one highly motivated, responsible Lead Camp Counselor for our 2025 Summer Camp program. The camp program runs for 7 weeks throughout the summer and serves an average of 50 children per day. The 2025 Summer Camp begins on Monday, June 16th and ends on Thursday, July 31st. A mandatory paid training is required for all summer staff on Monday June 9th from 9am-3pm.
The lead camp counselor is required to oversee the summer camp, with the help of 5 group counselors. This includes making sure the daily schedule is followed, preparing stations and activities throughout the day, and maintaining the safety and well-being of the children. Lead counselor reports directly to the Executive Director and Marketing and Development Director and works in conjunction to ensure a successful summer program. Lead Counselor hours are Monday - Thursday from 7:30am - 3:30pm. Prospective applicants must be 18 years of age and possess either a high school diploma or GED.
All candidates must successfully pass the following background clearances before beginning employment: PA State Police Background Check, PA Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprinting, and the Megan's Law background check. Medical testing, which includes a TB test and drug test, is also required.
