What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Counselor (Seasonal) position at Northeast Community Center?
Northeast Community Center (NECC) is a non-profit, social service agency located in the Marvine-Pembroke low-income housing development in Bethlehem, PA. We are seeking 5 highly motivated, responsible Camp Counselors for our 2025 Summer Camp program. The camp program runs for 7 weeks throughout the summer and serves an average of 50 children per day. The 2025 Summer Camp begins on Monday, June 16th and ends on Thursday, July 31st. A mandatory paid training is required for all counselors on Monday June 9th from 9am-3pm.
Camp counselors are required to safely supervise children throughout daily summer camp activities, lead/participate in activities, reinforce positive behaviors, teach proper sportsmanship, and bring enthusiasm to the camp day, and serve as positive role models. Counselor hours are Monday - Thursday from 7:45am - 3:15pm. Prospective camp counselors must graduate from high school or possess a GED by June 2025.
All candidates must successfully pass the following background clearances before beginning employment: PA State Police Background Check, PA Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprinting, and the Megan's Law background check. Medical testing, which includes a TB test and drug test, is also required.
