The Admissions and Registration Specialist position serves as a front-line role within Student Services and is often one of the first points of contact for prospective, current, returning, early college, and non-credit students. The position interacts with parents/guardians, high school counselors, alumni, Northeast staff and faculty, and other members of Northeast's 20-county service area. In this capacity, the Admissions and Registration Specialist plays a crucial role in creating a positive initial experience for individuals seeking assistance. The ability to effectively engage with a diverse and varied population is essential for providing exceptional service and support.
The Admissions and Registration Specialist works with students throughout their entire lifecycle, from application and enrollment to commencement and beyond. Daily responsibilities include providing high-level customer service by addressing inquiries via email, phone, or in person, modifying program selections for incoming students, collecting and entering test scores and high school transcripts, running and checking daily reports, and processing enrollment verification forms as well as internal and external transcript requests. Additionally, the position involves ensuring the proper filing and retention of these records. The Admissions and Registration Specialist must remain up to date on FERPA regulations and record retention policies relevant to the documents and information managed by the department, while adhering to strict confidentiality requirements.
This position collaborates with and serves as a backup for the Admissions and Registration Coordinator in assisting with the management of limited enrollment programs and waitlists and New Student Registration processes as needed.
This position provides support to various departments within Student Services, as well as to numerous other departments across campus. The Admissions and Registration Specialist collaborates closely with regional coordinators, extended campus directors, non-credit directors, the Allied Health department, and Workforce Development to address all non-credit course and registration issues. Additionally, the position is responsible for processing all non-credit registrations and maintaining files for fiscal year audits.
This position requires the applicant to apply advanced customer service skills in managing phone calls, texts, emails, and walk-in inquiries related to admissions and registration processes. Additional responsibilities include providing support as needed to other staff in the Admissions and Registration office, academic advisors, the testing center, marketing and recruitment, financial aid, and various other departments across all campuses.
