Northeast Community Fund is currently seeking a part-time Director of Fundraising and Development. This candidate must have extensive fundraising experience in a nonprofit organization, demonstrated success in managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources, experience with donor tracking/management software, and tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time. They must also have excellent written and oral communication skills; the ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships; a flexible, adaptable style; and the ability to lead strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives. Ability to work independently without close oversight, but a team player who will productively engage and collaborate with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside NECF. Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred, and experience with writing grants a plus.
This position reports to the Executive Director. The Director of Fundraising and Development is a critical leadership team member and an active participant in strategic decisions affecting the Northeast Community Fund funding resources. In partnership with the ED, this position is responsible for fundraising activities, with particular attention to local, state, and national funding. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build NECF's visibility, impact, and financial resources. They will also design and implement a comprehensive plan for developing key external alliances by cultivating individual and philanthropic support.
The Director of Fundraising and Development will primarily establish and implement the infrastructure needed for growth through planned giving and fundraisers. They will expand and diversify NECF's donor base/pipeline, work closely with other team members to secure funding for new initiatives, and work closely with the board of directors to engage them in fundraising efforts. The amounts raised by NECF are expected to increase in future years as the Director of Fundraising and Development systematically and effectively strengthens the organization's overall fundraising capacity.
Responsibilities
1. Support the Executive Director and board members on all fundraising initiatives.
2. Collaborate with the Accountant and ED to develop and implement NECF's annual financial strategy.
3. Work with the ED and Board Members to develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy.
4. I have primary responsibility for the development and execution of proposals; I write and archive recommendations using a long-term relationship-management approach.
5. Know of and be able to explain the tax advantages of contributions to potential donors.
6. Monitor donor information; provide and present statistical analysis to the board and Executive Director
7. Develop and implement a stewardship program to cultivate deeper ties with donors.
8. Monitor and report regularly on progress.
9. Develop and monitor annual budgets and prepare fundraising expense reports or other financial data.
10. Attend community events, meetings, or conferences to promote organizational goals or solicit donations or sponsorships.
11. Design and provide input into producing materials such as posters, websites, or newsletters to promote, market, or advertise fundraising events.
12. Develop or implement fundraising activities, such as annual giving campaigns or direct mail programs.
13. Plan and direct special events for fundraising.
14. Write speeches, press releases, or other promotional materials to increase awareness of the causes, missions, or goals of NECF.
15. Conduct research to identify the goals, net worth, history of charitable donations, or other data related to potential donors.
16. Secure speakers for charitable events, community meetings, or conferences to increase awareness of NECF.
17. Write and send letters of thanks to donors.
18. Develop strategies to encourage new or increased contributions.
19. Write reports and prepare and present presentations to communicate fundraising program results to the board of directors.
