JOB DESCRIPTION
Northeast Earth Mechanics is seeking a Mechanical Laborer to assist in the onsite construction of water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations and other various projects. This position will be involved in the installation of mechanical equipment, pumps, piping and other general construction activities.
Essential Functions
· Work under supervision in the installation of mechanical equipment including, but not limited to pumps, water/wastewater processing equipment, chemical feed systems, etc.
· Installation of interior flanged ductile iron piping.
· Installation of interior PVC piping.
· Installation of miscellaneous metal fabrications.
· Perform manual labor tasks such as lifting, carrying, and moving material as needed.
· Operate basic hand tools and power equipment safely and effectively.
· Follow instructions from supervisors to complete tasks in a timely manner.
· General laboring and site cleanup.
· Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving processes.
Core Competencies
· Ability to follow directions accurately and work well within a team environment.
· Good communication skills to interact with supervisors and coworkers effectively.
· Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment is preferred but not required.
· Good at developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships
· Flexibility to adapt to changing work conditions and priorities as needed.
· Highly motivated.
· Reliable.
Travel
· This position requires the ability to reliably get to project sites on time and reliable transportation to do so.
· The general area of project sites ranges from Southern Maine, Western New Hampshire to Southern New Hampshire.
Education, Experience and Certification Requirements
· High School Diploma
· OSHA 10 or 30 Card
Position Type
· This is an hourly position with the possibility of overtime pay.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
· Ability to stand for extended periods of time, and safely maneuver around the nearby presence of various construction equipment and vehicles, on an active construction site.
· Ability to lift 50 pounds and bend, squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, balance and stoop, reach on a regular basis.
