What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at Northeast Group?
At North East Group we specialize in all aspects of Landscaping, building services, including general contracting, construction, facility management and utility work. We are seeking an experienced individual that can lead our Work order teams, this position will oversee several crews that perform out of scope and enhancement work to new and existing clients. Responsibilities include scheduling and procurement of supplies as designated in estimates or requests. Communication with crews and office staff to provide updates, and have an ability to schedule and complete work on time and within budget. This position will require the individual to work in the field with some office work, have an ability to adapt, troubleshoot issues and create solutions for issues that may occur while working on projects.
Here's a list of expectations for the role of Operations Manager:
- 3-5 years working in a leadership role doing Landscape work orders, including Plant ID
- Assist in loading / unloading of equipment, materials and supplies daily.
- Hand dig with shovels, picks, digging bars to complete trenches.
- Able to use power tools including Chainsaws, Skid steer, small loaders, mini excavator, chippers, stump grinders and other landscape related equipment
- Have general knowledge of irrigation system inspection, repairs and adjustments, installation is a plus
- Manage crews including scheduling and overseeing project setup through completion on time and within budget
- Ability to Follow Instructions, read plans when needed, layout work for the crew
- Clean and maintain company vehicles and equipment when used
- Capable of working in all temperatures, climates and conditions
- Have the ability to complete site inspection reports, work order documents, ability to estimate and write proposals a plus to upsell additional work
- Prioritize work, secure materials including scheduling pickups or deliveries, then schedule and route work orders for crews
- Talk to customers about projects and provide updates when required
- Understanding and use of 811 one call system for markouts
- Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays in emergency situations
- Currently Possess or willing to obtain NJ Pesticide Applicators License

- Valid/clean driver’s license
- Valid DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain one prior to start
- Class A CDL for Truck and Trailer
- Able to pass Back Round Check
- Have a smart phone/device to use company apps for time keeping and job tracking

- Ability to troubleshoot issues and solve problems
- Standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods
- Occasional climbing on ladders when needed.
- Lifting and carrying objects up to 65 pounds
- Working in all weather conditions
Pay Range based on Experience and Qualifications- $28-$35 per hr
o Overtime is available during busy periods of season.
