Reports to: Director of Distribution

Oversees: Warehouse Supervisor, Receiving & Inventory Coordinator, Receiving & Distribution Coordinator

Department: Distribution

Qualifications:

The ideal Inventory Control Manager for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank understands and is passionate about the organization’s mission to provide nutritious food and grocery products to those in need in our 16-county service area. This individual will be a vital component of the Food Bank’s leadership team by providing over 8.4 million meals annually to the over 41,000 food insecure people in northeast Iowa. As the Inventory Control Manager, this team member must demonstrate outstanding management, organizational, planning, and implementation skills to optimize distribution practices and develop new opportunities that support the Northeast Iowa Food Bank’s strategic plan. The ability to work in a fast-paced and progressive environment will be the key to success in this role, as the Northeast Iowa Food Bank continually strives to work towards closing the Meal Gap in northeast Iowa.

This individual will possess strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with the ability to develop a culture based on high-performing and empowered teams. The Inventory Control Manager must have leadership abilities, be forward-thinking, and a strong sense of initiative to continually improve distribution at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. In addition, this person will possess a strong understanding of systems and processes while incorporating technology to make the organization stronger and more efficient.

About the Job:

The responsibilities of the Inventory Control Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Oversee and provide direction within receiving, inventory, order fulfillment processes, staging and distribution. – 50%

· Lead, manage and keep operations staff accountable for job responsibilities. – 20%

· Supervise all product receiving, product inspection, product repackaging, inventory control functions and order processes.

  • Supervise and empower team members towards the efficient and effective storage of products.
  • Work closely with the food sourcing and partner capacity teams to ensure consistent and efficient movement of products through receipting, storage, and distribution of products, maximizing space, resources and avoiding waste or damage.
  • Work closely with the Engagement Department to ensure good communication, processes and procedures for events, volunteer projects and coordination of other projects that arise. Support the Northeast Iowa Food Bank’s special food and fundraising events as needed.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the NEIFB in accordance with AIB and Feeding America standards, in addition to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assists to implement the Food Bank’s comprehensive food safety program, ensuring compliance with AIB, USDA and Feeding America standards.

· Assist in maintaining all documentation of AIB and Feeding America processes and procedures as it relates to compliance, ensuring successful completion of all inspections and audits.

· Assists with the development and implementation of written policies and procedures to ensure effective, efficient, and safe operations.

· Provide and/or implement ongoing training and cross-training in all program areas to develop staff and gain efficiency.

· Responsible for being on call for after-hour emergency calls.

· Greet, train, and supervise volunteers as well as share the mission of the NEIFB; provide general guidance of projects; assure proper training of volunteers to include specific jobs and safety concerns. Communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied and appropriately placed.

· In instances of a federal, state or locally declared emergency, NEIFB is typically considered an essential service and emergency responder; all its employees may be called in to perform regular or emergent duties.

· Provide occasional coverage in other areas of the Food Bank as necessary in times of high need.

Ticket/Specifications:

Required:

· 4-year degree with 2-3 years of experience related to warehouse management; combination of education and experience taken into consideration

· Knowledge of and experience with warehouse inventory management software/systems

· Strong analytical skills with comprehensive understanding of key supply chain processes including receiving, inventory control and order processing.

· Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

· Proficiency in MS Office software

· Culturally competent, ability to work with diverse groups and individuals.

· Ability to work nights and weekends.

· Ability to be certified in First Aid/CPR/AED, ServSafe Food Handling, and HACCP

· Forklift certification required within 90 days of employment through internal training

· Must pass a criminal background check.

· Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, current vehicle insurance and ability to use personal vehicle for Northeast Iowa Food Bank business.

· Ability to perform physical labor as necessary (stand/walk/move for long periods of time, lift to 50 pounds, work with warehouse equipment)

Preferred

· Ability to multitask, delegate, and adhere to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

· Experience with non-profit organizations

· Food Safety and Handling experience

This job is operated in a professional office as well as a warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While in the warehouse, the employee is regularly exposed to working near moving mechanical parts.
