What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fiscal Analyst position at Northeast Kansas Area Agency on Aging?
JOB OBJECTIVE: Provides direct assistance to the Fiscal Manager to facilitate the routine operations of the facility.
STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Fiscal Manager
HOURS OF WORK: Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
· Compile and sort documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions
· Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings
· Support budget preparation and monitor spending against budget allocations
· Assist in creating financial forecasts and projections
· Collect, organize, and maintain financial data for accurate reporting
· Utilize financial software and tools to analyze and present data effectively
· Summarize findings in a clear and concise manner to support decision-making
· Verify and post details of business transactions received
· Review vendor invoices, research discrepancies
· Prepare invoices
· Enter revenue into QuickBooks for various agency programs
· Reconcile bank statements
· Monitor accounts payable and receivable to ensure that payments are up-to-date
· Assist Fiscal Manager with extracting and distributing budget and financial reports information from QuickBooks monthly
· Assist in preparing financial reports
· Assist in preparation of annual operating budget and multiple program budgets
· Maintain accounting files and records
· Maintain office supplies inventory and reorders as necessary
· Make bank deposits
· Proof OAA and SCA 225s
· Ensure financial practices comply with relevant regulations and internal policies.
· Assist in internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and analysis
· Assists fiscal manager as required
· Work closely with Fiscal Manager, auditors, and other departments to align financial goals.
· Support cross-departmental projects by providing financial insights.
MINIMUM QUALIFIACTIONS:
· High school graduate or equivalent
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop and Excel required
· Requires working knowledge of basic accounting principles
· Requires basic understanding of grants and the grant process
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; travel required
