As a Medical Administrative Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of our medical practice. Your responsibilities will include assisting the Medical Team by performing various administrative tasks such as managing client records, scheduling appointments, and coordinating care. You will be an integral part of our team, contributing to the overall well-being of our clients.

NKHS is a 501(c)(3) private not-for-profit organization operating with the purpose of promoting high quality, comprehensive community mental health programs in Vermont's beautiful Northeast Kingdom. Our mission is to empower individuals, families, and communities by promoting hope, healing, and support. NKHS is a Designated Agency contracted with the State of Vermont to provide the highest quality of service in the areas of adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, children and youth with serious emotional disabilities, and adults with mental health and substance use challenges. RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE
- Maintain up-to-date OneCare and Primary Care Releases.
- Manage prescription refills, including scheduling Nursing visits as required.
- Secure prescription authorizations when necessary.
- Assist in lab test orders and tracking.
- Conduct urinalysis, document results, and schedule follow-up appointments.
- Thoroughly document all client interactions.
- Coordinate care with community partners and represent the agency in meetings.
- Schedule medical provider appointments.
- Monitor daily schedules and promptly address missed appointments.
- Administer No show letters and track responses.
- Offer administrative support to the Medical Team and Program Manager as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, plus 2 years secretarial/administrative experience.
- Experience in an outpatient healthcare setting, CNA/LNA or MA preferred.
- Familiarity with behavioral health services preferred.
- Organizational and basic clerical skills required.
- The ability to maintain confidential healthcare information is critical.
