SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position provides a wide range of services in residential and community settings. The individual may participate in the team meetings of consumers; will provide training/treatment to consumers individually as well as in small groups, following programs that are written by members of the interdisciplinary team; will transport clients in agency-owned vehicles; will distribute medication in a prescribed manner; will assist with and/or provide general housekeeping tasks, i.e., laundry, meal preparation, general cleanup, and grocery shopping; assist in identifying problems and evaluating progress of consumers; assist in the maintenance of case records, i.e., progress notes, incident/accident reports, data recording, filing; and will be responsible for maintaining a safe, pleasant living
atmosphere through the use of a consistent training/teaching environment.
Rate of pay:
- Casual $16.74
- Part Time: $17.21
FLSA: Non-Exempt/Casual
Reports To: Home Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience: Knowledge of developmental disabilities and of people with developmental disabilities desirable. Lived experience with mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorders valued.
Other: Good communication skills-both verbal and written-are required. Must be able to understand and follow oral and written directions. Must be at least 18 years old. Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (as determined by the agency). Ability to work a varied schedule is desirable. Ability to work within a team setting.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Embrace and practice the philosophies and tools of gentle teaching to include interactions with co-workers.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of universal precautions, standards of practice, and emergency protocol.
3. Demonstrate accurate and complete documentation according to Board procedures and standards of practice.
4. Demonstrate proficient services that adhere to the “person-centered planning” and Board standards of practice and policies.
5. Must successfully complete the group home curriculum training offered by the agency.
6. Attend meetings as required or requested by the home supervisor.
7. Work cooperatively and effectively with staff, families, consumers, and a wide range of people in the community.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Performs other related duties, as required.
2. May be requested to be involved in the Board’s continuous quality improvement program.
3. May be required to provide own transportation while performing agency-related duties.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to walk, bend, kneel, stand, sit, lift up to 50 lbs., with or without assistance, stretch/reach, hear, see hand/finger dexterity and drive. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to
