Recipient Rights Advisor

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists the Recipient Rights Officer with rights-related activities (i.e. site visits, hospital policy reviews, data collection, logging & entry, investigations, and occasional training), and as requested, may assist with HIPAA issues and Medicaid grievances and appeals as deemed appropriate.
Rate of Pay: $21.40 - $29.50
FLSA: Non-Exempt/Full-Time
Reports To: Recipient Rights Officer
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's Degree from a recognized or accredited institution with coursework in mental health or administrative areas.
Experience: One or more years of relevant experience. Lived experience with mental illness, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorders valued.
Other: Good verbal and writing skills are required. Functional computer literacy is preferred
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Demonstrates knowledge of universal precautions, standards of practice, and emergency protocol.
- Advocate consumer rights through home visits, rights investigations, policy compliance, and training, as requested.
- Work cooperatively and communicate effectively with staff, families, consumers, and a wide range of people in the community.
- Required to assist with the review and data entry of incident reports.
- Required to participate in ongoing training related to position.
- May be required to assist with Medicaid grievances and appeals.
- May be required to assist with HIPAA compliance issues.
- May be required to prepare special and/or periodic reports.
- Must travel to various sites within the four-county catchment area, and occasionally to contracted sites within the state.
- Demands of the position at times are emotionally and mentally stressful.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Performs other related duties as required.
2. May be requested to be involved in the Board's continuous quality improvement program.
3. May be required to provide own transportation while performing agency-related duties.

Ability to walk, bend, stand, sit, lift up to 25 pounds, with or without assistance, stretch/reach, hear, see, hand/finger dexterity, and drive.
