Summary
Provides engineering services including planning, designing, and routing of new and existing fiber optic lines, equipment, and services. Ensures environmental, efficiency and economic factors are balanced in the performance of duties without sacrificing safety of self, co-workers, and the general public. Ensures construction is completed correctly in accordance with specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures fiber optic system is designed in accordance with RUS specifications and complies with NESC as a minimum standard.
- Consults and works with developers and project engineers to meet project and BOLT needs.
- Provides service to members, developers, and project engineers by communicating and responding to needs or complaints in a courteous and professional manner.
- Review customer needs, develop house count, develop fiber assignments, and properly size equipment to ensure adequate system capacity for needs and growth.
- Obtains easements for construction of facilities and ensures properly-filed easements are in place.
- Observes existing overhead and underground facilities during the course of daily work ensuring reliable and safe operation. Reports problems to supervisor.
- Assists with the restoration of fiber optic services during large interruptions by troubleshooting and guiding contract and in-house crews to ensure and expedite restoration.
- Operates all equipment used in the design and staking of fiber optic facilities.
- Assumes responsibility for performing and completing daily work assignments.
- Communicates required information by completing all paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assists with development of construction and maintenance work plans.
- Protects cooperative resources by ensuring assigned equipment is kept in good order.
- Accepts training by attending meetings, workshops, and courses related to job responsibilities.
- Inspect completed construction and construction work in progress to ensure RUS and BOLT specifications are adhered to and report deficiencies to supervisor in a timely manner.
- Review As-Built prints for accuracy and coordinate with GIS technician to ensure accurate and timely system mapping and record-keeping.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience - High school graduate or equivalent plus 3 years’ experience in aerial and underground design and construction of fiber optic and/or other utilities.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - Must be able to possess and maintain a valid Oklahoma Commerical Driver's License.
Physical Demands - Regularly required to stand, walk; reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear; frequently works in rough terrain; must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment - Regularly exposed to all outside weather conditions.
