Schedule Information
Shift : Nights, 6p-6a, EOW
Notate block scheduling requests in body of submittal. Can be accommodated but may not always be guaranteed.
Unit Specific Information
The Medical Surgical Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse (LPN or LVN) holds shift accountability for providing delegated aspects of direct patient care to patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
The LPN / LVN demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment and leadership in the anticipation and planning for safe delivery of care; maintains clinical competencies through continuing education; delegates patient care priorities commensurate with the education and experience of the staff available; provides direction and supervision of assigned personnel delivering patient care.

Facility size : 93 beds
Number of beds on unit : 2 med / surg units (3rd floor has 12 beds and 4th floor has 21 beds)
Facility is designated as a Level III trauma center, Acute Ready Stroke Center and a chest pain / STEMI center.
Patient Ratio : 1 : 5 (acuity based), ratios can go up to 1 : 6 with swing patients
LPNs are utilized to the fullest scope of their license in the State of Missouri. RNs supervise LPNs.
Teaching facility : frequently have nursing students, medical students, interns and residents on the med / surg unit.
All nurses are required to float when needed and perform tasks on unit floated to.
Agency and permanent staff go into the same float rotation.
PCTs are utilized.
