Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Assistant Director of Policy & Compliance leads the College's compliance with Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, ADA, and related regulations. Serving as the Title IX and Title VI Coordinator, they oversee investigations into discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, ensuring prompt and equitable resolutions. They also develop and maintain policies and procedures, implement education, training, and awareness initiatives, and coordinate employee learning, development, engagement, and wellness programs.
Job Duties
Compliance
- Support the development and implementation of educational programs and initiatives that promote understanding of ethical behavior and compliance obligations.
- Engage with faculty, staff, and students to provide resources and guidance on reporting options, support services, and institutional policies.
- Conduct internal investigations into allegations of misconduct, including unlawful discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, and other policy violations.
- Prepare detailed investigation reports outlining findings, conclusions, and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Present findings to senior management and relevant stakeholders as needed.
- Provide relevant training on Title IX, Title VI, ADA, and other regulations.
- Promote awareness of the importance of reporting misconduct and the procedures for doing so.
- Monitor compliance data and prepare reports that inform policy adjustments and procedural improvements.
Policy Development and Implementation
- Develop, review, and update organizational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to create policies that align with the College’s mission and strategic goals.
- Ensure policies are effectively communicated to all employees and stakeholders.
Learning & Development
- Conduct assessments to identify training and development needs across the College; Develop and implement learning strategies, training sessions, and programs to meet those needs.
- Develop and implement employee engagement and wellness programs that foster a positive workplace culture and enhance morale.
- Create engaging curriculum that utilizes various instructional methods, including workshops, online modules, and hands-on training.
- Market and communicate professional development, engagement, and wellness activities.
- Coordinate event logistics, including scheduling, venue selection, and materials preparation.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of programs through feedback surveys, assessments, and performance metrics.
- Manage learning and development budget.
- Maintain training records for programs and employees.
Additional Responsibilities
- Document compliance in all areas of HR including compliance with SACSCOC accreditation policies and standards.
- Respond to inquiries regarding NeSCC and TBR policies/procedures and general HR information.
- Support digital accessibility initiatives.
- Conduct data analysis and complete surveys and reports.
- Special projects.
- Complete other assignments as directed by supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Three (3) years of experience in compliance, intake/interviews/investigations, policy development, case management, human resources, or other related roles with a strong focus on compliance.
Experience conducting internal investigations.
Experience working with confidential documents/records and programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Training/certifications in Trauma Informed Care, Civil Rights Investigations, and/or Title IX Investigations.
Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
Higher education experience.
Experience developing and delivering staff training.
- Experience with event planning and/or project management.
- Coversational ability or fluency in a second language.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Technology Skills: MS Office suite; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems
- Knowledge of Title IX, Title VI, ADA, and related local, state, and federal regulations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Understanding of issues related to sexual misconduct, discrimination, and equity in education.
- Familiarity with investigative procedures and conflict resolution strategies.
- Awareness of best practices for Title IX and Title VI compliance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Proficient in data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Capability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing regulations and institutional needs.
